Warning: You are now going to read a conversation that is highly sweetening, please make sure you have eaten something ( I am just kidding, go ahead, read it and over to Rou'a now).
It all started with a batch of simple cinnamon biscuits I made for my little sister that she took with her to a camping trip. I loved the excitement between mixing all the ingredients together, forming the dough, putting them in the oven and waiting anxiously for them to be done.
With a fair share of tongue burns entailing my over-excitement, I found myself researching and always wanting to experiment with new recipes. I do not come from a family of bakers with no secret recipe book, whatsoever, passed down from generation to another. Although my mother is quite the cook with different techniques. She’s more old school, eyeballing the ingredients and shoving everything together, I’m more into the precision and science behind it.
Is baking your full-time job?
No, I’m actually an architect with a full-time job. Baking, whisking, mixing and beating is what I do when I am not busy designing buildings.
How do you toggle between being an architect and a baker?
When I first started working it was a challenge to gear up energy boost for myself. Going through a baking and blogging block, I gave up my passion for a while until I realized that something was missing, and that’s when I created a schedule. I spent my weeknights researching and reading about new recipes, techniques and sometimes trends. I pick a new challenge every week and try it out on the weekends.
What is the one ingredient you are using a lot these days? And, what is your signature dessert?
I don’t like to limit to one specific ingredient. I’m always looking for new things to incorporate in my desserts. Right now, my newest experimental ingredient is green tea. Our Red Velvet Cookies and cake roll are our two signature desserts. They are the most ordered items on our menu!
The toughest thing I face is the post-baking dish washing and cleaning up!

Would you like to share one of your many sweet recipes for our readers?
I love Christmas time. Everything about family gatherings, the joyous atmosphere and going back home, makes it a delightful time of year. So to help me go through the countdown, I started a “12 Days of Baking” challenge, where I bake a quick treat every day. One of my favorite recipes was Chocolate Thumbprint Cookies.
