Every weekday from 3 30 pm - 4 30 pm, Nabil Al Nashar conducts a themed drive show and Wednesday is Food & Lifestyle segment. Hungry Birds Doha is a guest with QF Radio talking about all the food news and happenings in Doha, Qatar.
Without a doubt, most of you are already tuned into the radio show live. However, I will still go ahead and do a recap each week after the show to summarize what we spoke about in case you miss out on listening to us.
Last week (10/12/2014) and this (17/12/2014) was aired from 4 30 pm - 5 30 pm as the #TheQFDrive was taking place from Darb Al Saei. So, don't be confused if you heard me at 5 pm instead of the usual 4 pm each Wednesday.
Christmas and New Year means serious business in this region. What you have on offer is overwhelming right from Eve dinner buffets/set menus to brunches to afternoon teas - you have it all!
I have put up a listing on the website earlier this week and you can check it out here.
We did a sneak peak to a restaurant review as well - Kebab King at Bin Omran. Hearty Meal and not very heavy on your pocket with more food than the plate size is what I thought best suited this place and its a rare find here (full review to be posted soon).
We had an impromptu rapid fire round where I was asked some appetizing questions and the theme was desserts/ sweet dish:
Best Knafa - Al Aker Sweets
Best Baklava - Al Aker Sweets (Hafiz Mustafa in Turkey was my first choice though)
Best Milkshake - Baskin Robbins
Best Ice Cream - Capricci Gelato
Best Brownie - I have not yet come across the best one but in Nabil’s opinion it is at California Tortilla
Best chocolate chip cookie - Alison Nelson's Chocolate Bar - oatmeal chocolate chip cookie. Nabil loves the one at Subway
Best Rasmalai - Zaffran Cafe or Saffron Lounge
Best zalabia/luqmat - I understood it as jalebi (Indian sweet) - Zaffran Cafe. I'm not sure about the luqmat though (my choice would be the homemade ones sold at Darb Al Saei food stalls - if that counts). Where do you enjoy a good luqmat?
Although I wasn't asked about the best cheesecake, I went ahead to make a choice and that is at Shakespeare & Co.
Also, I am absolutely bonkers about the Banana Pudding at Magnolia Bakery.
There is lots more food know how and discussions coming up each week. Stay tuned and don't miss out!
Happy eating x
