Moving right to the food, I had wanted to order the kebab bil roz & another dish that I tried and loved in Kuwait. Sadly, both the dishes were not part of the menu here. So, we chose to go with the basics:
Hummus beyrouti x2
Hummus with meat and pine-nuts
Mixed Grill (700 gms)
Lemon Mint x 2
As soon we placed the order, we were served one portion of the hot khubs and I also requested another portion for the other side of the table. Alas, they didn't get it. Hummus beyrouti was great but on the other end, hummus with the meat wasn't as appealing (I have had better ones). Fattoush was nice.
Come our main course, the grilled vegetables (my friend's order) was okay. The mixed grill seemed like a fairly small portion for the price of QR 160 and was bland in its entirety which was a bit disappointing. At this point, I asked our server for the khubs again and he said he would get it right away. He was very polite but I fail to understand what was the issue with serving the khubs as they were being continuously served at the other tables.
The arayes had a very peculiar smell and taste and was bland too. The lemon and mint was the best thing this evening.
I am only rather disappointed while the place did impress me but the food didn't do justice and definitely not worth spending QR 400 for 4 persons (not a big amount but the food wasn't worth it).
At the end of it, the khubs never came and we had to have our meal amidst the many flies in the restaurant!
I will give it sometime before making my next visit.
We paid QR 400 for 4 persons.
I give it a 2 out of 5.
